How long should I continue counselling?
Every case is different. Some people will only need one or two sessions with the counsellor. Others may see a counsellor on an ongoing basis. Some clients have bought two or more plans. We offer 6, 10, and 15 hour prepaid counselling plans that include access for two to Karen Gosling Counselling Practice Online Resources for the lifetime of the website at https://www.marriagology.com.
Yes. There is an additional prepaid charge of AUD$120 for a home visit, over and above the counselling charge to cover travelling time and transport costs to and from your home.
Can I pay for just one session and then convert that to a prepaid consultation plan later by paying more money to make up the difference?
No. All new clients must buy our initial 2-hour counselling session for A$497. Once you have established a rapport with Karen and learned how Gosling International can assist you, you will be in a good position to choose which of our 3 prepaid counselling consultation plans suits you best.
If I pay for a prepaid Counselling Plan A and later on decide I need more sessions, can I then pay more to extend to a Plan B, for example?
No, once you have purchased a prepaid plan, you cannot upgrade it to another plan.
Yes. Pre-paid plans expire 12-months after they are paid, but your membership of www.marriagology.com is for the lifetime of the website. If you think you may not require your unused plan, you may request a refund before the expiry date. Refunds are calculated as set out in our Professional Counselling Agreement, which you are required to sign before counselling can commence.
Do you charge for cancellation of an appointment?
No. The only time we charge is if you have a scheduled appointment but do not attend (DNA) at the agreed time. Goslings will wait 15 minutes before attending to something else and you agree to pay for a 15-minute consultation at the agreed rate. PROVIDED ALWAYS that should there be good reason for your non-attendance, and you advise Goslings of your inability to attend an appointment at least two hours before the agreed time, no fee will be charged.
Do you charge more for the session if my partner attends with me?
No. You pay for the counsellor’s time regardless of how many attend the session. Sometimes four or five people may attend a family session.
Do you charge for phone calls?
Goslings will provide up to 10 minutes of telephone consultations free of charge as part of our service to you. You agree to pay the full consultation fee, including the initial 10 minutes, at the standard or plan rate per hour pro rata for hours used or part thereof for telephone consultations that exceed 10 minutes duration.
Do you charge forreport writing?
Yes. Report writing is charged for the time taken to write the report at our standard rate of A$400 per hour.
If I am on a prepaid plan and don’t use all the sessions, can I get a refund?
Yes. Where a refund of a prepaid Consultation Plan is requested, consultations completed under any plan will be charged at our standard rate of A$400 per hour and the balance of the plan refunded by Gosling International in Australian AUD$s made payable to the name appearing on the credit card voucher used when payment is made and mailed by cheque or bank transfer to the last advised postal address. Bank transfer and currency conversion fees will be deducted from the balance due.
If I am on a prepaid plan and don’t use all the sessions, can Idonate the balance to a friend?
Provided we have written authority from you, we allow your friend to use the balance of your plan hours. The session will be invoiced to your account.
Can I claim the fees I pay for counselling on my medical insurance?
Karen Gosling is not a Medicare provider, nor is she affiliated with any specific health fund. She does not see clients under a white card or mental health plan.
Please contact your own health fund to clarify if you may be eligible for any rebate of Gosling International counselling fees.
Who benefits most from Zoom counselling?
Zoom counselling benefits people who:
- want anonymity
- live at a distance from the counselling center
- do not have time to go to a face-to-face session
- do not want to be tied to a specific appointment time
- find it easier to prepare thoughts in a private Zoom meeting
- prefer the comfort of their own home to a counselling room
- request a link to audio and video recordings to review their counselling sessions
How does Zoom counselling actually help?
Like face-to-face counselling, Zoom counselling provides an opportunity to be heard and understood without judgement. A person can gain insights into his/her individual situation through interactions with the counsellor. Often a relationship develops between an individual and his/her counsellor, whether by Zoom or e-mail, and a client feels safe to disclose additional troubling issues that may be causing distress. This often leads to increased self-awareness and the clients taking more control of their lives.
Is Zoom counselling confidential?
Goslings uses Acuity and Stripe as it’s electronic commerce Booking and Payment Service Providers (PSP) to transmit your payment and credit card information. Regular Zoom meetings and email correspondence on the Internet are generally safe. As a guide, you may compromise your privacy if
- someone gains unauthorised access to your computer
- you print out email counselling correspondence and someone finds and reads it
- you accidentally misdirect your email
- your email is intercepted by a computer hacker
Gosling International cannot be held responsible for breaches of confidentiality by the client, or by unknown parties, such as, computer hackers, or by technical difficulties or loss of data caused by computer errors or server “crashes”.
